Chris Amante is a Geospatial Research Scientist collaborating with NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) through the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder. Chris is developing integrated bathymetric-topographic digital elevation models (DEMs) to support the Consumer Option for an Alternative System to Allocate Losses (COASTAL) Act. His research interests include quantifying the uncertainty in coastal DEMs, and incorporating that uncertainty and uncertainty in sea-level rise projections and storm surge models in probabilistic, future flood risk assessments. Chris earned his B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross in Environmental Studies with a minor in Physics. Chris previously worked at NCEI through CIRES as a graduate research assistant, during which time he received his M.A. in Geography from the University of Colorado Boulder. He received his Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2018.
