The CIRES coastal digital elevation model (DEM) team is located in NOAA's David Skaggs Research Center in Boulder, Colorado and is funded primarily by NOAA Line Offices through a Cooperative Agreement with NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI). We develop high-resolution, three-dimensional computer models of coastal regions throughout the United States and select international territories. Our DEMs are available here. Our DEMs integrate land and seafloor topography to depict Earth's solid surface and are made from public land and seafloor elevation data collected by federal, state and local governments, universities and private companies. Our models help plan, prepare for and better understand ocean processes and have a wide range of scientific and technical uses such as tsunami and storm-surge forecasting and warning, hazard mitigation and community preparedness, ecosystem management and habitat research, coastal change and terrain analysis.
